The Search Filter The “Search Filter” can be used by various features of Viewpoint Online Management and Analysis to return a list of users matching the search filter criteria.

1. The Search Filter

The search filter can be used where there is a “Search Filter” button on the screen. To set a search filter you must enter your search criteria by selecting and entering the required options. If a search filter is set you will see a message in red informing you of this in the top right of the screen (See Fig 1).

2. Setting the Profile Options

You can set profile items to be included in the search criteria. For example in Fig 2 you can select the User Birth Year and User Gender, more profile items are available for selection if you scroll down using the scroll bar at the right. The profile items you can select will depend on the users profile. You can use the “switch” buttons to toggle the options in each profile item.

3. Setting the User Detail Options

You can set the users details you wish to be included in the search criteria (see Fig 2) by entering information in “Search for login” (a Login Id or prefix), “Taken” (whether the user has logged in), “Not Taken” (whether the user has not logged in), “Start Creation Date” (the start date for a creation date range), “End Creation Date” (the end date for a creation date range), “Search for First Name” (the first name of the user, not the Login Id) and “Search for Surname (the surname of the user, not the Login Id). You can also enter an asterisk “*” in the search boxes (but not in the Start Creation Date or End Creation Date, these must be a valid date) as a wildcard, this will return all users matching that user detail. You can also type an asterisk “*” after a login id, first name or surname (for example “tester*”) to return all the users that start with “tester”, you can type an asterisk “*” before a login id, first name or surname (for example “*tester”) to return all the users that end with “tester” or you can type an asterisk “*” before and after a login id, first name or surname (for example “*tester*”) to return all the users that contain “tester”. Click on the “Continue” button to save and apply the search filter.
